FC Samartex 1996 2–1 Medeama SC

Ghana Premier League | Matchweek 7

Venue: Nsenkyire Sports Arena, Samreboi

Date: Sunday, 18 October 2026

Medeama Sporting Club suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign after losing 2–1 to FC Samartex 1996 in a Matchweek 7 Western Derby at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday.

The Mauve and Yellow travelled to Samreboi seeking to extend their impressive unbeaten start to the season following a convincing 3–1 victory over Heart of Lions in their previous league fixture.

However, Medeama were unable to maintain that run against a determined Samartex outfit, who capitalised on home advantage to secure all three points in the regional derby.

*Unbeaten Run Comes to an End*

Medeama entered the encounter as league leaders, having collected 14 points from their opening six matches. Their strong start had established them as one of the early pace-setters in the title race.

The defeat represents a setback for the reigning champions, whose early-season consistency had provided a solid foundation for their title-defence ambitions.

Despite the result, Medeama will be keen to respond positively, regroup as a team and return to winning ways in their next league assignment.

*Focus Turns to Aduana FC*

Attention now shifts to Medeama’s Matchweek 8 fixture against Aduana FC, scheduled for Sunday, 25 October 2026.

The technical team and players will look to address the lessons from the Samreboi encounter and prepare for the next challenge as the club continues its pursuit of another successful Ghana Premier League campaign.

Medeama remain committed to their objectives for the season, with the determination, discipline and resilience that define the club’s identity.
