Medeama SC returned to winning ways on the road with a spirited 2–1 victory over Eleven Wonders in their Matchday 10 Ghana Premier League fixture at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The result ends the Mauve and Yellow’s three-game away winless run and lifts the team temporarily to the top of the league table with 21 points, pending the outcome of Aduana FC’s match against Asante Kotoko.
Bright Start and Kyei’s Heroics Set the Tone
The match began at a high tempo, with Medeama settling quickly despite the early pressure from the home side. Eleven Wonders were awarded a penalty in the 37th minute, but goalkeeper Felix Kyei pulled off a brilliant save to keep the game level.
Just before halftime, Medeama found the breakthrough. Godknows Dzakpasu rose beautifully to head home a perfectly shaped corner from Fuzzy Taylor, giving Medeama a deserved 1–0 lead heading into the break.
Second Half Intensity and Tactical Adjustments
Coach Ibrahim Tanko made two changes at halftime, introducing Nana Kofi Babil and Henry Nyarko for Richard Appiah and Derrick Fordjour. The home side, however, struck back in the 58th minute to level the score at 1–1.
Tanko reacted swiftly, sending on Kingsley Braye for Salim Adams before reshaping the defensive structure moments later:
Desmond Baffoe ⟶ Paul Yeboah
Abdul Salam ⟶ Yusif Mubarik, with Rich Sackey stepping into midfield
The tactical switch added stability at the back while giving Medeama more thrust up front.
Babil Restores the Lead With Individual Brilliance
Medeama’s pressure paid off in the 73rd minute when substitute Nana Kofi Babil produced a moment of magic. After receiving a clever ball from the energetic Kingsley Braye, Babil weaved past three defenders and calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to restore Medeama’s lead at 2–1.
The final stages of the game were marked by increased intensity, with Eleven Wonders pushing for an equaliser, but Medeama’s backline—anchored by the returning Yusif Mubarik—held firm.
Victory and the Road Ahead
Three minutes of stoppage time were not enough for Eleven Wonders to alter the outcome, as Medeama secured the win to record their second away victory of the season and end a three-game run without a road win.
The Mauve and Yellow now shift focus to their next assignment at home, where they will host Bechem United in Matchday 11 at the TnA Stadium.
